My name is Denis. I grew up in the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean region of the Province of Québec, Canada. Over 95% of the population of this region speaks French, my mother tongue.
Learning English as a second language in primary school and high school progressed slowly until I went outside of Québec for several weeks of English language immersion in my late teens. This was followed by seven years of living and working in the provinces of Alberta, Nova Scotia and British Columbia, allowing me to gain a much finer grasp of my second language.
The 1960s Apollo program captivated my imagination. Seeing planet Earth from outer space without any boundaries of provinces, states or countries drove home for me the concept that all humanity is sharing the same wonderful but fragile spaceship.
I love walking daily in the forest with my dog. This brings me peace and calm in a sometimes hectic world.
